Why format JSON before reading it?.

A little structure makes JSON easier to understand and debug.

A compact JSON response is great for moving data, but hard to scan. Formatting adds line breaks and indentation so objects, arrays, and nested values become easier to follow.

Make the structure visible

Each indentation level shows where a value belongs. That makes it easier to spot a missing field or a value inside the wrong object. Formatting also validates syntax: an unfinished string or trailing comma needs fixing before it can be formatted.

Keep your data close

Our formatter runs in your browser. The text you paste is never uploaded or saved. Only a successful action adds to an aggregate tool counter, without a user identifier.

Know the limits

JavaScript parsing may round very large numbers, and duplicate object keys keep their last value. Keep the original when exact numeric precision or duplicate keys matter.
